The Origins of the FNAF Phone Guy Meme
The FNAF Phone Guy Meme first started to gain traction in late 2014, shortly after the release of the first game in the series. The meme typically featured an image of the game’s phone guy character, accompanied by a humorous caption or quote. Fans of the game found the phone guy’s voice and dialogue to be amusing, and the meme quickly spread across social media platforms like Twitter and Tumblr.
One of the most popular iterations of the FNAF Phone Guy Meme was a screenshot of the character with the caption “Uh, hello? Hello, hello? Uh, there’s been a slight change of company policy concerning the use of the suits. Uh, don’t. After learning of an unfortunate incident at the sister location involving multiple and simultaneous spring lock failures, the company has deemed the suits temporarily unfit for employees.”
The Height of the Meme’s Popularity
By 2015, the FNAF Phone Guy Meme had reached its peak in popularity. Fans of the game would create their own versions of the meme, often using images of the phone guy in various poses and scenarios. Some of the most popular captions included “Uh, hello? Hello, hello? Uh, congratulations! You’ve made it to day two!” and “Uh, hello? Hello, hello? Uh, remember to smile! You are the face of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza.”
The meme’s popularity wasn’t just limited to social media, either. In 2015, a group of FNAF fans created a parody song called “Uh Oh, The Phone Guy” which featured lyrics based on the phone guy’s dialogue from the game. The song quickly went viral and has since amassed over 10 million views on YouTube.
The Decline of the FNAF Phone Guy Meme
Despite its initial popularity, the FNAF Phone Guy Meme began to decline in late 2016. Fans of the game had grown tired of the meme and had moved on to other aspects of the franchise. Additionally, a lack of new FNAF games and content meant that there was less material to work with when creating new iterations of the meme.
Today, the FNAF Phone Guy Meme is largely forgotten by all but the most dedicated fans of the franchise. While some people still create new versions of the meme from time to time, it is no longer the cultural phenomenon that it once was.
