The Origin of the Lego Stormtrooper Meme
The Lego Stormtrooper meme first gained popularity on Reddit back in 2012, when user “m0rris0n_hotel” posted a photo of a sad-looking Stormtrooper minifigure with the caption “I lost my hand in NOM, and they gave me this…” The post quickly went viral, and soon other users were sharing their own sad Stormtrooper photos and captions. The meme quickly spread to other social media platforms and became a staple of internet culture.
The reason the Lego Stormtrooper meme resonated with so many people is simple: it’s relatable. We’ve all had moments where we’ve felt down in the dumps, and seeing a cute little toy with a sad face is a lighthearted way to express those feelings. Plus, the fact that it’s a Stormtrooper, one of the most iconic figures from the Star Wars franchise, adds an extra layer of humor.
The Legacy of the Lego Stormtrooper Meme
While the Lego Stormtrooper meme may not be as ubiquitous as it once was, it still holds a special place in the hearts of many internet users. In fact, a quick search on social media shows that people are still creating new memes featuring the sad little figure. Some fans have even created their own custom Lego Stormtroopers with even more exaggerated sad faces.
But the meme’s influence goes beyond just internet culture. In 2015, Lego released a set called “First Order Stormtrooper” that featured a minifigure with a similar sad expression. While Lego has never officially acknowledged that the set was inspired by the meme, it’s hard to deny the similarities.
