The Origins of the Karen Meme with Cat
The Karen meme with cat likely originated on social media platforms like Reddit and Twitter. It’s difficult to pin down exactly when the trend started, but it gained traction in 2022 and has only grown in popularity since then. The meme’s popularity can likely be attributed to the fact that it’s relatable and humorous. Many people have encountered a “Karen” in their lives – someone who is entitled, rude, and demanding – and the addition of a cat just makes the meme even more amusing.
The Controversy Over the Karen Meme with Cat
Despite its popularity, the Karen meme with cat has also sparked controversy. Some people argue that the meme is sexist and perpetuates harmful stereotypes about women. They point out that the meme often features a middle-aged white woman with a short haircut, and that this type of woman is unfairly targeted by the meme. Others argue that the meme is harmless and that people are taking it too seriously.
It’s worth noting that the term “Karen” itself has been criticized for being sexist and racist. The term is often used to describe a white woman who is perceived as entitled or demanding, and some argue that it unfairly targets a specific group of people.
