Since its initial release in 2018, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has become one of the most beloved and widely-played games in the world. With its massive roster of characters, stunning graphics, and endless replayability, it’s no wonder that fans have been obsessed with the game since day one. But perhaps one of the most unexpected outcomes of the game’s popularity has been the rise of the “Jojo Smash Bros meme.”

What Is the Jojo Smash Bros Meme?

For those who aren’t familiar with the meme, it essentially involves overlaying clips from the popular anime series “Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure” onto footage from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The resulting videos are often hilarious, with characters from the show (who are known for their over-the-top poses and dramatic expressions) taking center stage in battles against the game’s fighters.

While the meme is certainly entertaining, it’s also a testament to the creativity and ingenuity of internet culture. As one Redditor put it, “The Jojo Smash Bros meme is the perfect intersection of two wildly different fandoms that somehow manage to work together perfectly.”

The Origins of the Meme

So where did the Jojo Smash Bros meme come from? As with many internet phenomena, it’s difficult to pinpoint a specific origin. However, it’s likely that the meme gained traction after a number of users on social media began creating and sharing their own Jojo-themed Smash Bros videos.

One of the earliest examples of the meme can be traced back to a video posted on Twitter in 2019, which featured the character Jotaro Kujo (a popular protagonist from the Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure series) fighting against various characters from Smash Bros. The video quickly went viral, and soon other users began creating their own versions of the meme.

The Impact of the Meme

While it may seem like just another internet fad, the Jojo Smash Bros meme has actually had a significant impact on both the Smash Bros and Jojo fandoms. For one, it’s introduced many fans of the game to the world of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, which has led to a surge in popularity for the anime series.

Additionally, the meme has helped to foster a sense of community among fans of both franchises. As one Twitter user put it, “The Jojo Smash Bros meme has brought together two of my favorite things in the world. I never would have thought that these two worlds could collide, but now I can’t imagine them apart.”

Why the Meme Works

So what is it about the Jojo Smash Bros meme that makes it so effective? There are likely a number of factors at play, but one of the main reasons is the sheer absurdity of the concept. On the surface, it doesn’t make much sense for characters from a stylish, over-the-top anime to be fighting against Mario, Pikachu, and the other Smash Bros characters.

But it’s precisely this absurdity that makes the meme so entertaining. There’s something inherently satisfying about seeing these larger-than-life anime characters taking on the familiar faces of Smash Bros, and the clash of styles makes for some truly hilarious moments.

The Future of the Meme

As with any internet trend, it’s difficult to predict how long the Jojo Smash Bros meme will remain popular. But for now, it shows no signs of slowing down. In fact, new videos featuring the meme are cropping up all the time, and the community of fans who enjoy them continues to grow.

So whether you’re a die-hard fan of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, a Smash Bros enthusiast, or just someone who enjoys a good meme, there’s no denying that the Jojo Smash Bros meme is one of the most entertaining and creative internet trends of the past few years.
