What Makes a Meme “Dirty”?
Before we dive into the memes themselves, it’s worth taking a moment to define what we mean by “dirty”. In the world of memes, dirty can refer to a few different things. Sometimes it means a meme that is crass or vulgar, using explicit language or imagery to shock the viewer. Other times, a dirty meme might simply be one that is risqué or suggestive, hinting at sexual content without actually showing it. Of course, what one person considers “dirty” might not be the same as what someone else considers dirty, which is part of what makes memes so interesting.
The Best Dirty Memes of 2022
The “I’m not saying it’s aliens, but…” Meme
One of the most popular dirty memes of 2022 was the “I’m not saying it’s aliens, but…” meme. This meme typically featured a photo of something mysterious or unexplained, with the caption “I’m not saying it’s aliens, but…” followed by a suggestive or vulgar punchline. For example, one popular version of the meme featured a photo of a crop circle with the caption “I’m not saying it’s aliens, but they definitely weren’t using a GPS.” This meme was popular because it played on our fascination with the unknown while also making us laugh with its dirty jokes.
The “Karen” Meme
Another popular meme of 2022 was the “Karen” meme. This meme typically featured a photo of a middle-aged white woman with a short, angled haircut, accompanied by a caption mocking entitled or rude behavior. For example, one popular version of the meme featured a photo of a woman with the caption “Karen demanded to speak to the manager of the apocalypse.” While not necessarily dirty in and of itself, the Karen meme often included references to sex or other adult themes, making it a popular choice for those looking for a little bit of raunchiness in their memes.
The “Simp” Meme
The “simp” meme was another popular choice in 2022. This meme typically featured a photo of a man, often a celebrity, accompanied by a caption mocking his perceived weakness or subservience to women. For example, one popular version of the meme featured a photo of Drake with the caption “Drake really out here simping for Rihanna.” While not strictly dirty, the simp meme often included sexual innuendo or vulgar language, making it a popular choice for those who like their memes with a little bit of edge.
What People Are Saying About Dirty Memes
Of course, not everyone is a fan of dirty memes. Some people believe that they are inappropriate or offensive, and that they contribute to a culture of disrespect and objectification. Others argue that memes are just harmless fun, and that people who are offended by them are being too sensitive. Here’s what a few people had to say about dirty memes in 2022:
- “I think that dirty memes can be really funny, but there’s a line that shouldn’t be crossed. When memes start to make fun of people’s bodies or identities, that’s when they become hurtful.” – Sarah, 24
- “I don’t really get the appeal of dirty memes. I think they’re kind of crass and immature.” – David, 32
- “Dirty memes are hilarious! I love being able to laugh at something that’s a little bit taboo.” – Emily, 28

Whether you love them or hate them, there’s no denying that dirty memes were a big part of the meme landscape in 2022.
