The Early Days
When Sarah Huckabee Sanders first took on the role of press secretary, she was a relatively unknown figure. However, it didn’t take long for her to become a household name, and with that came the creation of memes featuring her. In the early days, most of these memes focused on her role as a spokesperson for the administration, often poking fun at her sometimes combative interactions with the press.
One early meme featured Sanders standing at the podium during a press briefing with the caption, “When you’re trying to explain something to your mom, but she’s not getting it.” Another popular meme showed her sitting at a desk with a sign that read, “Please do not confuse your Google search with my law degree.”
Controversy and Criticism
As Sanders became a more prominent figure in the administration, the memes featuring her took on a more critical tone. Many of these memes were in response to controversial statements she made or actions she took as press secretary. One popular meme showed her with the caption, “Sarah Huckabee Sanders: Lying for a living since 2017.”
These memes often sparked heated debate online, with some defending Sanders and others condemning her. Some critics argued that the memes were disrespectful and sexist, while others saw them as a legitimate form of political satire.
The Aftermath
After Sanders stepped down as press secretary in 2019, many thought that the era of Sarah Huckabee memes had come to an end. However, that was not the case. In fact, her departure only seemed to fuel the creation of new memes. One popular meme showed Sanders with the caption, “I’m not saying I miss Sarah Huckabee Sanders, but my sense of humor sure does.”
While these newer memes may not have been as controversial as those from her time in the administration, they still managed to capture the attention of the internet. It seems that no matter what role she plays in the public eye, Sarah Huckabee Sanders will always be a meme-worthy figure.
The Response
So, what do people think of Sarah Huckabee memes? The response has been mixed. Some find them hilarious and a welcome break from the seriousness of politics, while others see them as disrespectful and mean-spirited.
One person who is not a fan of the memes is Sarah Huckabee Sanders herself. In a 2018 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she said, “It doesn’t bother me. But I do think that it says a lot more about the people who create those memes than it does about me.”
Others have defended the memes as a form of political satire. In a 2018 article for The Daily Dot, writer Ana Valens argued that “memes are a way for people to take back power from those who have it.” She went on to say that “when we meme Sarah Huckabee Sanders, we’re not just mocking her. We’re mocking the Trump administration and the political system as a whole.”
The Future of Sarah Huckabee Memes
As for the future of Sarah Huckabee memes, it’s hard to say. It’s possible that as time goes on, her image will fade from the public consciousness and the memes will die out. However, given their continued popularity, it seems more likely that they will continue to circulate online for years to come.
One thing is for certain, though: Sarah Huckabee Sanders will always be a polarizing figure. Whether you love her or hate her, there’s no denying that her time in the Trump administration left a lasting impact on American politics. And for better or for worse, that impact will continue to be felt in the form of memes.
