Early Days of Nebby Memes
When Pokemon Sun and Moon was first released in 2016, it didn’t take long for fans to fall in love with Nebby. The little Cosmog was cute, innocent, and seemed to always be getting into trouble. One of the earliest memes to come out of Nebby’s antics was the “Get in the Bag, Nebby” meme. In the game, the player character is tasked with catching Nebby, but the little creature is reluctant to go into its Pokeball. The player’s friend, Lillie, then suggests putting Nebby in a bag to make it easier to transport. The “Get in the Bag, Nebby” meme was born, and it quickly became one of the most popular memes of the year.
But the “Get in the Bag, Nebby” meme was just the beginning. As fans played through the game, they discovered more and more reasons to love Nebby. From its adorable little face to its quirky personality, Nebby quickly became a fan favorite.
Nebby Goes Mainstream
As the popularity of Pokemon Sun and Moon grew, so did the popularity of Nebby memes. It wasn’t long before Nebby was appearing in memes outside of the Pokemon community. Nebby was showing up in everything from political memes to celebrity gossip memes. It seemed like everyone was in love with this little Cosmog.
One of the most popular Nebby memes outside of the Pokemon community was the “I’m Not a Cat” meme. The meme featured a picture of Nebby with the caption “I’m not a cat,” a reference to a viral video of a lawyer who accidentally turned on a cat filter during a Zoom call. The meme was shared by millions of people and helped to solidify Nebby’s place in meme culture.
