The Existential Crisis Meme
One of the most popular philosophy memes of 2023 is the existential crisis meme. This meme typically features an image of a person staring off into the distance with a caption that reads something like “When you realize that life has no inherent meaning.” The meme has become popular because it touches on a very real feeling that many people experience at some point in their lives.
“I love the existential crisis meme because it perfectly captures that feeling of dread and uncertainty that can come with contemplating the meaning of life,” says John, a philosophy major at the University of California, Berkeley.
The Stoicism Meme
The Stoicism meme has also gained a lot of traction in 2023. This meme typically features an image of a stoic philosopher, such as Marcus Aurelius or Epictetus, alongside a caption that reads something like “When you realize that you can’t control everything, but you can control your reactions to everything.” The meme has become popular because it promotes a philosophy of resilience and acceptance in the face of adversity.
“The Stoicism meme is great because it reminds us that we have the power to control our own reactions to the world around us,” says Sarah, a psychology student at the University of London. “It’s a reminder to stay calm and focused even in the midst of chaos.”
The Postmodernism Meme
The Postmodernism meme has also started to gain some traction in 2023. This meme typically features an image of a famous postmodern philosopher, such as Jacques Derrida or Michel Foucault, alongside a caption that reads something like “When you realize that all truth is relative and there are no objective standards.” The meme has become popular because it pokes fun at the idea that there is no objective reality.
“The Postmodernism meme is hilarious because it highlights the absurdity of the postmodern philosophy,” says Alex, a sociology professor at the University of Chicago. “It’s a reminder that even the most serious of ideas can be made into a joke.”
The Absurdism Meme
The Absurdism meme has also gained a lot of attention in 2023. This meme typically features an image of a famous absurdist philosopher, such as Albert Camus or Samuel Beckett, alongside a caption that reads something like “When you realize that life is meaningless, but you still have to live it.” The meme has become popular because it captures the essence of the absurdism philosophy.
“The Absurdism meme is great because it reminds us that even though life may seem meaningless, we still have to find our own purpose in it,” says Lisa, a literature professor at the University of Toronto. “It’s a reminder to keep pushing forward even when things seem hopeless.”
