What Makes a Meme “Dank”?
So, what exactly makes a meme “dank”? While there is no definitive answer, there are a few characteristics that are commonly associated with dank memes.
Firstly, dank memes are often characterized by their lack of context. They are frequently nonsensical and absurd, and they rely on the viewer to infer meaning from the image or text. This means that dank memes can be difficult to understand for those who are not well-versed in internet culture.
Secondly, dank memes often have a dark or edgy humor to them. They can be offensive, taboo, or controversial, and they often push the boundaries of what is considered acceptable humor. This is not to say that all dank memes are offensive, but rather that they often lean towards more risqué or subversive humor.
Finally, dank memes are often characterized by their self-awareness. They often reference other memes, internet trends, or even themselves, and they are frequently meta in nature. This self-referential quality is what makes dank memes so unique and beloved by many internet users.
