Back in 2014, former Attorney General Eric Holder made a bold statement during an interview with ABC News. When asked about his tenure as AG, Holder replied, “I’m still the President’s wingman, so I’m there with my boy.” This quote quickly went viral and became the basis for a popular meme featuring Eric Holder as the ultimate loyal sidekick to President Barack Obama.

The Eric Holder meme took the internet by storm, with thousands of memes popping up on social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. The meme usually featured a photo of Holder with a caption that played off his “wingman” comment, such as “When you’re the President’s wingman but also have to run the Department of Justice” or “When you’re the President’s wingman but also have to deal with Congress.”

The meme gained traction among Obama supporters and Democrats, who saw Holder as a strong ally to the President and a fighter for justice. However, it also drew criticism from Republicans and conservatives, who saw it as proof of Holder’s loyalty to Obama over the American people.

The Backlash

As the Eric Holder meme continued to spread, it also faced growing backlash from those who felt it was inappropriate to make light of the Attorney General’s role in the government. Some critics argued that the meme trivialized Holder’s position and undermined the seriousness of the issues he was dealing with.

In response, some supporters of the Eric Holder meme argued that it was simply a lighthearted way to show appreciation for Holder’s loyalty to the President. They pointed out that similar memes had been created for other politicians, such as Vice President Joe Biden and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

The End of the Meme

Despite its popularity, the Eric Holder meme eventually faded from the internet as Holder left his position as Attorney General and the Obama administration came to an end. However, the legacy of the meme lives on, with many people still referencing it as a reminder of Holder’s loyalty to Obama and his dedication to justice.

One Twitter user, @ObamaBros, commented on the meme’s impact, saying, “The Eric Holder meme was more than just a joke. It was a symbol of the Obama era and the values we stood for. It showed that loyalty and integrity still matter in politics.”
