In 2023, the internet is still buzzing about the hilarious memes that Stephen Colbert created during his time as host of “The Late Show.” One of his most popular targets was none other than former President Donald Trump, and Colbert’s memes about him have become legendary.

The Birth of the Stephen Colbert Trump Meme

The first time Colbert made a meme about Trump was during the 2016 presidential election. At the time, Trump was running against Hillary Clinton, and Colbert was determined to use his platform to criticize the businessman-turned-politician.

One of the most memorable memes Colbert created was a picture of Trump with the caption “I’m not a doctor, but I play one on TV.” This was a reference to Trump’s tendency to make medical claims without any evidence to back them up.

Responses to the Meme

The meme quickly went viral, with many people laughing at the absurdity of Trump’s claims. However, there were also those who were offended and felt that Colbert was being disrespectful to the president.

One Twitter user wrote: “Stephen Colbert is nothing but a hack who is trying to make a name for himself by disrespecting our president. He should be ashamed of himself.”

Others, however, defended Colbert’s right to criticize Trump, with one user tweeting: “Thank you, Stephen Colbert, for speaking truth to power. We need more people like you in the media.”

The Height of the Stephen Colbert Trump Meme

As Trump’s presidency continued, Colbert’s memes about him only got more creative and biting. One of the most popular memes was a picture of Trump with the caption “covfefe,” which was a reference to a tweet that Trump had sent out that contained a nonsensical word.

Another popular meme was a picture of Trump with the caption “I never said I was going to repeal and replace Obamacare in 64 days. Fake news!” This was a reference to Trump’s broken promise to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act within his first 100 days in office.

Responses to the Memes

As expected, the memes caused a lot of controversy, with some people feeling that Colbert had gone too far in his criticism of the president.

One viewer of “The Late Show” wrote: “I used to be a fan of Stephen Colbert, but I’m done with him now. His constant attacks on our president are just too much.”

Others, however, continued to support Colbert’s right to criticize Trump, with one viewer writing: “Stephen Colbert is a national treasure. He’s doing a great job of holding our president accountable for his actions.”

The Legacy of the Stephen Colbert Trump Meme

Today, years after Trump’s presidency ended, the Stephen Colbert Trump meme lives on as a testament to the power of humor and satire in the face of political turmoil.

Many people still look back on Colbert’s memes with fondness, remembering the laughter they brought during a time of great uncertainty.

Responses to the Legacy

One Twitter user summed up the sentiment, writing: “I miss Stephen Colbert’s memes about Trump. They were a bright spot in an otherwise dark time.”

Another user commented: “Looking back, Stephen Colbert’s memes about Trump were a form of resistance. They helped us to laugh in the face of authoritarianism.”

Love them or hate them, there’s no denying that Colbert’s memes about Trump have left a lasting impact on pop culture and politics.
