It’s been a few years since the Bonk meme first emerged in the online world, but it still remains as one of the most popular and recognizable memes to date. For those who are unfamiliar with it, the Bonk meme is a simple image of a stick figure hitting another stick figure on the head with a plank of wood, accompanied by the word “Bonk!” in bold letters.

The meme has been used in various contexts, from expressing frustration or annoyance to indicating a crush on someone. But where did this meme come from? Who created it? In this article, we’ll take a deep dive into the history of the Bonk meme and explore its origins.

The earliest known instance of the Bonk meme can be traced back to a 2017 post on the r/MemeEconomy subreddit. The post featured the now-famous image of the stick figure hitting another stick figure with a plank of wood and was captioned “Invest in the new bonk format”.

From there, the meme slowly gained traction and started appearing on various social media platforms, including Twitter and Instagram. However, it wasn’t until 2020 that the meme really took off and became a widespread phenomenon.

The Creator of Bonk

Despite its widespread popularity, the creator of the Bonk meme remains unknown. The original post on the r/MemeEconomy subreddit was made by a user named u/BigBoss928, but it’s unclear whether they were the ones who created the image or simply shared it.

The Legacy of Bonk

Despite its relatively short history, the Bonk meme has already left a lasting legacy in the online world. Its simple yet versatile image has inspired countless variations and spin-offs, from “Bonk” merchandise to fan art and even video games.
