In this article, we’ll delve deeper into the history of the spooning position meme, explore its popularity, and discuss some of the best examples of the meme.

The Origins of the Spooning Position Meme

The spooning position meme can be traced back to a webcomic called “TwoKinds,” which was created by Thomas Fischbach in 2003. In the comic, the main characters, a human and a tiger, are often depicted in the spooning position. However, it wasn’t until 2012 that the meme really took off, when a user on the imageboard 4chan posted a version of the comic with the caption “I’m not gay, but $20 is $20.”

The meme quickly spread across various social media platforms, with users creating their own versions of the comic and captioning it with their own jokes and commentary. Some of the most popular iterations of the meme include the “I’m not racist, but…” and “I’m not a doctor, but…” variations.

The Popularity of the Spooning Position Meme

One of the reasons why the spooning position meme has remained popular over the years is its versatility. The meme can be used to convey a wide range of emotions and situations, from humor to sadness to political commentary. Additionally, the simplicity of the cartoon characters makes it easy for anyone to create their own version of the meme.

Another factor that has contributed to the meme’s popularity is its relatability. Many people have experienced the feeling of being comforted by a loved one in the spooning position, and the meme captures that sentiment in a lighthearted and accessible way.
