What are Penguins Flyers Memes?
Memes are images, videos or other media that are shared widely on social media and other online platforms. Penguins Flyers memes are a type of meme that focuses on the rivalry between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Philadelphia Flyers.
These memes can take a variety of forms, from funny images to videos to text-based jokes. They often play on the stereotypes of the two teams and their fans, as well as the history of the rivalry itself.
The Best Penguins Flyers Memes
There are countless Penguins Flyers memes out there, but some have risen to the top as the most popular and most shared. Here are a few of our favorites:
The “Crosby Sucks” Meme
This meme features a picture of Sidney Crosby, the Penguins’ star player, with the words “Crosby Sucks” overlaid on top. It’s a common refrain among Flyers fans, who view Crosby as a whiner and a diver.
Unsurprisingly, Penguins fans don’t take kindly to this meme, and often respond with their own memes that mock the Flyers and their fans.
The “Gritty vs. Iceburgh” Meme
When the Flyers introduced their new mascot, Gritty, in 2018, Penguins fans were quick to create memes that pitted Gritty against Iceburgh, the Penguins’ own mascot. These memes often feature Gritty as a violent, unhinged character, while Iceburgh is portrayed as calm and collected.
Of course, Flyers fans have their own memes that show Gritty coming out on top.
The “Crosby vs. Giroux” Meme
This meme compares Sidney Crosby and Claude Giroux, the Flyers’ captain. While Crosby is widely regarded as one of the best players in the world, Flyers fans argue that Giroux is just as good, if not better.
The memes often feature side-by-side comparisons of the two players’ stats and accomplishments, with Flyers fans arguing that Giroux is underrated and underappreciated.
What Do Fans Think of Penguins Flyers Memes?
As with any type of meme or online content, opinions on Penguins Flyers memes are divided. Some fans love them, seeing them as a way to show their support for their team and to poke fun at their rivals.
“I think the memes are hilarious,” says Penguins fan Sarah Johnson. “They’re a great way to blow off steam after a tough loss, and they show that even though we’re rivals, we can still have a sense of humor about it.”
Other fans, however, see Penguins Flyers memes as mean-spirited and juvenile.
“I don’t really get the appeal of the memes,” says Flyers fan Mike Smith. “To me, they just seem like a way for people to be mean and spiteful towards each other. I’d rather focus on the actual games and the on-ice competition.”
The Future of Penguins Flyers Memes
As long as the Penguins and Flyers continue to be bitter rivals, it’s likely that Penguins Flyers memes will continue to be a popular form of online content.
Whether you love them or hate them, there’s no denying that Penguins Flyers memes have become a part of the fabric of the NHL, and they show no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
So the next time you see a Penguins Flyers meme on your social media feed, take a moment to appreciate the humor and the creativity of the fans who created it.
