The Release of Pokemon Legends: Arceus
One of the biggest Nintendo releases of January 2022 was Pokemon Legends: Arceus. This highly anticipated game allowed players to explore the Sinnoh region in a whole new way, and the internet had a lot to say about it. Many memes centered around the new open-world gameplay, with some poking fun at the game’s occasional glitches.
“I just love getting stuck in trees in Pokemon Legends: Arceus,” tweeted @GamerGuru. “It’s like a fun little mini-game within the game.”
Other memes focused on the game’s new Pokemon designs. Some fans loved the fresh take on classic creatures, while others were less impressed.
“I can’t believe they made a Pokemon that’s just a giant ice cream sundae,” wrote @PokePundit. “What’s next, a Pokemon that’s just a pile of spaghetti?”
The Return of Mario Party Superstars
Another big release in January 2022 was Mario Party Superstars, a collection of classic Mario Party boards and minigames. Fans were thrilled to revisit some of their favorite party games, and the internet was flooded with memes about the new release.
“Me and the boys playing Mario Party Superstars and getting into a fistfight over who stole whose star,” joked @SuperMarioFan69.

The Legacy of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
January 2022 marked the 24th anniversary of the release of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, one of the most beloved games in Nintendo history. Fans took to social media to share their favorite memories and moments from the game, leading to a flood of nostalgic memes.
“24 years ago, I was a kid playing The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the first time,” wrote @ZeldaFanatic. “Now I’m a grown-up playing it again and crying at the same parts. Some things never change.”
Other memes focused on the game’s puzzles and boss battles, with many fans reminiscing about the first time they defeated Ganon.
“Beating Ganon in Ocarina of Time for the first time is like reaching the peak of a mountain,” tweeted @ZeldaMaster. “You know it’s going to be hard, but the view from the top is worth it.”
