It’s hard to believe that just a few years ago, the phrase “eat booty like groceries” was a relatively obscure line from a rap song. But since then, it has become one of the most iconic memes of our time, inspiring countless jokes, memes, and even merchandise. Here’s a look at how the “eat booty like groceries” meme has evolved over the years.

Origins

The phrase “eat booty like groceries” first appeared in the 2014 song “Post to Be” by Omarion, which also featured Chris Brown and Jhené Aiko. The line was sung by Aiko, and at the time, it didn’t attract much attention. However, a few months later, a Vine user named Mightyduck posted a video of himself dancing to the song, and the “eat booty like groceries” line became a viral sensation. From there, the meme took on a life of its own.

Popularity

By early 2015, “eat booty like groceries” had become one of the most popular memes on the internet. It was referenced in countless memes, videos, and social media posts, and it even inspired a line of merchandise. The phrase was so ubiquitous that it was even mentioned on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, where Ellen famously declared that she didn’t know what it meant.

Controversy

As with many memes, “eat booty like groceries” wasn’t without its share of controversy. Some people found the phrase offensive, arguing that it was disrespectful to women or that it promoted unhealthy sexual practices. Others defended it as harmless fun, pointing out that it was just a joke and that people shouldn’t take it so seriously.

Today, “eat booty like groceries” is still a popular meme, although it has arguably lost some of its cultural cachet. However, it remains a testament to the power of the internet to take something seemingly insignificant and turn it into a global phenomenon.
