The Rise of Furry Memes
Furry memes have been around for quite some time, but in recent years they have exploded in popularity. This is due in part to the rise of social media platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok, which have made it easier than ever to share and discover furry memes. But what exactly is a furry meme?
Simply put, a furry meme is a meme that features anthropomorphic animals, or animals with human-like characteristics. These can be anything from cute and cuddly animals like cats and dogs, to more exotic creatures like dragons and unicorns. Furry memes can be funny, heartwarming, or even political, and they often feature characters with distinct personalities and quirks.
The Top Furry Memes of 2021
1. Gonna Tell My Kids
The “Gonna Tell My Kids” meme has been around for a few years now, but it really took off in 2021. The meme involves people sharing pictures of famous celebrities or historical figures, but captioning them with something completely unrelated. For example, a picture of George Washington might be captioned with “Gonna tell my kids this was Drake.”

2. Buff Doge vs. Cheems
The “Buff Doge vs. Cheems” meme features two dogs, one muscular and one chubby, standing side by side. The muscular dog is labeled “Buff Doge” and the chubby dog is labeled “Cheems.” The meme is often used to compare two things, with the muscular dog representing the better option and the chubby dog representing the lesser option.
Response from Instagram user @FurryFrenzy: “I love the Buff Doge vs. Cheems meme because it’s so relatable. I think everyone has been in a situation where they had to choose between two options, and this meme captures that perfectly.”
3. Among Us Furries
The “Among Us Furries” meme combines the popular video game “Among Us” with furry characters. The meme features furry versions of the game’s crewmates, complete with colorful fur and unique accessories. The meme is often used to express frustration with the game or to make fun of players who take the game too seriously.
Response from TikTok user @FurryFrenzy: “I think the Among Us Furries meme is so funny because it’s such a random combination. But it works, and it’s really entertaining to see all the different furry designs people come up with.”
Tips for Creating Your Own Furry Memes
If you’re interested in creating your own furry memes, there are a few tips and tricks to keep in mind. First and foremost, make sure your meme is original and creative. The best memes are ones that haven’t been done before, or that put a unique twist on a popular meme format.
Another important tip is to make sure your meme is easy to understand. A good meme should be able to convey its message quickly and clearly, without requiring a lot of explanation or context. Use simple and straightforward language, and try to avoid inside jokes or references that only a select few people will understand.
Finally, don’t be afraid to get creative with your furry characters. Give them distinct personalities and quirks, and use them to tell a story or convey a message. The best furry memes are ones that connect with people on an emotional level, whether through humor, heartwarming moments, or political commentary.
