The Origins of VTEC Memes
The first VTEC memes were created in the early 2000s, but it wasn’t until the rise of social media that they gained widespread popularity. The memes typically feature a picture of a Honda with the caption “VTEC just kicked in, yo!” or something similar. The joke is that VTEC magically transforms an average Honda into a high-performance machine, even though in reality it is just a technology that improves engine performance.
One of the most famous VTEC memes is the “VTEC just kicked in, yo!” video. It features a Honda Civic racing against a BMW and a Subaru, and when the VTEC kicks in, the driver shouts “VTEC just kicked in, yo!” The video has been viewed millions of times and has inspired countless memes.
The Best VTEC Memes
There are countless VTEC memes out there, but some are definitely funnier than others. Here are a few of our favorites:

VTEC Goes Brrr
This meme features a picture of a Honda Civic with the caption “VTEC goes brrr.” It’s a reference to a popular meme format that originated on TikTok, where people make videos of things going “brrr” to indicate speed or acceleration.

The caption reads “VTEC vs. Non-VTEC: It’s like the difference between a supermodel and a librarian.” It’s a humorous way of illustrating the power and performance difference between VTEC and non-VTEC engines.
The Response to VTEC Memes
Car enthusiasts and Honda fans generally love VTEC memes. They appreciate the humor and the fact that it brings attention to a technology that they feel is often overlooked. However, some people do take offense to the memes, arguing that they perpetuate negative stereotypes about Honda drivers and the cars themselves.
One Honda owner had this to say about VTEC memes: “I think they’re hilarious. I own a Honda with VTEC and I love it. It’s a fun car to drive and it’s great to see people having fun with the technology. Plus, it brings attention to a brand that doesn’t always get the recognition it deserves.”
Another Honda owner had a different opinion: “I think the memes are stupid. They make Honda drivers look like idiots who think their car is faster than it really is. I love my Honda, but I don’t need a meme to feel good about it.”
Conclusion
Love them or hate them, VTEC memes are here to stay. They have become a staple of car culture and a way for Honda fans to show their love for the brand. Whether you’re a die-hard Honda enthusiast or just someone who appreciates a good meme, VTEC memes are sure to make you laugh.
