If you’re a college football fan, you know that the Ohio State vs Michigan rivalry is one of the biggest in the sport. These two teams have been battling it out on the gridiron for over a century, and the rivalry only seems to get more intense with each passing year. But beyond the actual game itself, there’s another aspect of this rivalry that fans love: the memes.

The Best Ohio State vs Michigan Memes of 2023

As we head into the 2023 college football season, fans are already starting to create hilarious memes that poke fun at both teams. Here are some of the best Ohio State vs Michigan memes we’ve seen so far:

The “Harbaugh Face” Meme

One of the most enduring images from the Ohio State vs Michigan rivalry in recent years has been the “Harbaugh Face.” This refers to the pained, frustrated expression that Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh often wears during games against the Buckeyes. Fans have turned this into a meme by superimposing Harbaugh’s face onto various other images, such as a crying baby or a grumpy cat.

“The Harbaugh Face is just too good not to meme,” says Ohio State fan and meme creator Sarah Johnson. “It’s become a staple of this rivalry, and it’s always good for a laugh.”

The “O-H-I-O” Meme

Ohio State fans love to show off their school spirit by spelling out “O-H-I-O” with their arms. But Michigan fans have turned this into a meme by adding their own twist. They’ll spell out “O-H-I-O” with their arms, and then add a middle finger to represent the “M” in Michigan.

“It’s a little crude, but it’s also pretty funny,” says Michigan fan and meme enthusiast Tom Smith. “We may not always win on the field, but at least we can win in the meme game.”

The “Game of Thrones” Meme

With the popularity of the TV show Game of Thrones, it was only a matter of time before someone created a meme that combined the show with the Ohio State vs Michigan rivalry. In this meme, Ohio State is represented by the noble House Stark, while Michigan is represented by the evil House Lannister.

“I’m a huge Game of Thrones fan, so when I saw this meme I just had to share it,” says Ohio State fan and meme aficionado Mike Brown. “It’s clever and funny, and it really captures the spirit of this rivalry.”

The Importance of Memes in College Football Rivalries

So why are memes so important in college football rivalries like Ohio State vs Michigan? For one thing, they offer a way for fans to express their emotions and connect with each other, even if they’re not at the game itself. They also provide a way to poke fun at the opposing team without getting too mean-spirited.

“Memes are a great way to show your team spirit and have a little fun with the rivalry,” says Ohio State fan and meme creator John Nguyen. “It’s a way to blow off steam and laugh a little, even if your team loses.”

Of course, not everyone is a fan of the meme culture surrounding college football rivalries. Some people feel that it takes away from the seriousness of the game, and that it can sometimes cross the line into disrespect.

“I’m all for having fun, but I think sometimes the memes can get a little too harsh,” says Michigan fan and traditionalist Karen Lee. “I’d rather focus on the game itself and the sportsmanship that should come with it.”

The Future of Ohio State vs Michigan Memes

As long as the Ohio State vs Michigan rivalry continues, so too will the memes. And with each passing year, fans are sure to come up with even more creative and hilarious ways to poke fun at each other.

“The memes are just a part of this rivalry now,” says Ohio State fan and meme enthusiast Amanda Hernandez. “They’re a way for us to connect with each other and have a good laugh, even if we’re on opposite sides of the field.”

It all started with a simple phrase uttered by a frustrated customer in a fast-food restaurant: “State your business.” Little did he know that his words would become the latest viral meme to sweep the internet.

For those who are not familiar with the “State Your Business” meme, it is a phrase that is used to express annoyance or impatience with someone who is taking too long to get to the point. It can be used in a variety of situations, from customer service interactions to online debates.

The Origins of the Meme

The “State Your Business” meme first gained traction on social media platforms such as Twitter and Instagram in early 2023. It quickly spread to other sites, such as Reddit and Tumblr, and soon became a ubiquitous part of internet culture.

Some argue that the meme’s popularity can be attributed to its relatability. Many people have experienced the frustration of dealing with someone who is beating around the bush, and the phrase “State Your Business” provides a cathartic release for those feelings.

Others believe that the meme’s success is due to its simplicity. Unlike other memes that require a certain level of cultural knowledge or understanding, anyone can understand the frustration behind “State Your Business.”

The Impact of the Meme

On the positive side, the meme has provided a way for people to connect and commiserate over shared experiences. It has also given rise to a new wave of comedic content, with people creating memes, videos, and other forms of media that riff on the phrase.

The Future of the Meme

As with any trend, it is difficult to predict how long the “State Your Business” meme will remain popular. Some believe that it is already on the decline, with other memes such as “OK, Boomer” and “Ight, Bet” taking its place.

Since the Golden State Warriors’ historic NBA championship win in 2015, their fan base has exploded in size and creativity. From the “Splash Brothers” tandem of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson to the team’s dominant run to five consecutive NBA Finals appearances, Warriors fans have had plenty of reasons to celebrate – and to create some hilarious memes along the way.

The Early Days of Warriors Memes

As with any team or cultural phenomenon, the earliest memes related to the Warriors were relatively simple and straightforward. Fans would use popular image templates – like the “I Should Buy a Boat” or “Bad Luck Brian” memes – and add captions related to the team’s struggles or triumphs.

One popular early meme featured a photo of Curry with the caption “My dad used to tell me…” followed by a humorous and often ridiculous piece of advice that supposedly helped the star point guard develop his skills. Another meme format involved using a photo of Thompson and adding text describing his incredible shooting accuracy.

These early memes were often shared on social media sites like Twitter and Facebook, and they helped to establish a sense of camaraderie among Warriors fans around the world.

The Rise of the “Strength in Numbers” Era

After the Warriors’ championship win in 2015, the team adopted the slogan “Strength in Numbers” as a way to celebrate their collective success and the contributions of every player on the roster. This phrase quickly became a rallying cry for fans as well, and it inspired a new wave of memes and fan-made content.

One popular meme format from this era featured a photo of the team’s bench players with the caption “Strength in Numbers: When the Warriors’ second unit is better than your entire team.” Another meme featured a photo of Curry with the caption “Strength in Ankle Ligaments: When the Warriors’ best player misses a game and they still win by 20.”

These memes helped to showcase the depth and talent of the Warriors’ roster, and they also highlighted the team’s incredible success during this period. The Warriors would go on to win another championship in 2017, cementing their status as one of the greatest teams in NBA history.

The KD Era and Beyond

In 2016, the Warriors made a controversial move by signing superstar forward Kevin Durant. While this move certainly added to the team’s talent and success, it also led to some backlash from fans who felt that the team was becoming too dominant and predictable.

As a result, many memes during this era focused on the idea of the Warriors as “villains” or “supervillains” in the NBA. Fans would use images of comic book villains like Thanos or Darth Vader and add Warriors-themed captions, or they would use photos of the team’s starters with captions like “The Avengers of the NBA.”

Despite this negative reaction from some fans and commentators, the Warriors continued to dominate the NBA during this period. They made three more NBA Finals appearances and won two more championships, solidifying their place in the annals of basketball history.

Reaction and Comments
