Back in 2012, a relatively unknown NBA player by the name of Anthony Davis was drafted first overall by the New Orleans Hornets (now Pelicans). But it wasn’t his basketball skills that caught the attention of the internet – it was his iconic unibrow. Almost overnight, Davis became a meme, with internet users creating countless jokes and memes about his distinctive facial hair. And even though it’s been over a decade since Davis was drafted, the unibrow meme is still going strong.

The Birth of the Meme

The first Anthony Davis unibrow meme appeared shortly after he was drafted in 2012. The meme usually featured a photo of Davis with his unibrow photoshopped to be even more exaggerated, with captions poking fun at his unique look. For example, one popular meme read “Anthony Davis’ unibrow is sponsoring my trip to the Bahamas this year,” while another said “Anthony Davis’ unibrow is the only thing that can block a dunk from LeBron James.”

These memes quickly went viral, and it wasn’t long before Anthony Davis himself became aware of them. In an interview with ESPN, Davis said that he thought the memes were “funny,” and that he didn’t mind being the subject of them.

The Unibrow’s Legacy

Even though Anthony Davis has since left the Pelicans and won an NBA championship with the Los Angeles Lakers, the unibrow meme remains as popular as ever. In fact, it’s become something of an internet legend, with many people using the meme as a shorthand for anything that’s distinctive or stands out.

But why has the unibrow meme endured for so long? According to internet culture experts, the answer lies in its simplicity. The meme is easy to understand and doesn’t require any prior knowledge of Anthony Davis or the NBA. Plus, it’s just plain funny.

The Response to the Meme

While Anthony Davis himself has been largely positive about the unibrow meme, not everyone has been as accepting. Some internet users have criticized the meme for being mean-spirited or for making fun of Davis’ appearance.

However, many others have defended the meme, arguing that it’s all in good fun and that Davis himself seems to enjoy it. Some have even argued that the meme has helped to make Davis more popular and recognizable, which could be seen as a positive thing.

The Future of the Meme

So what’s next for the Anthony Davis unibrow meme? While it’s impossible to predict the future, it seems likely that the meme will continue to be a favorite of internet users for years to come. After all, it’s already been around for over a decade and shows no signs of slowing down.

Of course, there’s always the chance that a new meme will come along and dethrone the unibrow as the internet’s favorite joke. But for now, Anthony Davis and his iconic facial hair are still going strong.

If you’re an internet user, chances are you’ve come across a meme or two in your time scrolling through social media. In 2023, one meme in particular has taken the internet by storm: Chris Davis memes.

Who is Chris Davis?

For those who don’t know, Chris Davis is a former professional baseball player for the Baltimore Orioles. He played for the team from 2011 until his retirement in 2020. While he had some successful seasons, Davis is perhaps best known for his struggles at the plate in recent years.

In 2018, Davis set a record for the longest hitless streak in MLB history, going 0-54 at the plate. The streak lasted from September 2018 to April 2019, and during that time, Davis became somewhat of a punching bag for fans and critics alike.

How did the memes start?

The first Chris Davis meme appeared on social media in late 2018, during the height of his hitless streak. The meme featured a picture of Davis with the caption “I’m not saying I’m Chris Davis, but have you ever seen us in the same room together?” implying that the person in the photo was also incapable of hitting a baseball.

From there, the memes only grew in popularity. People began creating their own versions of the “I’m not saying I’m Chris Davis” meme, as well as memes featuring Davis in various comedic situations.

What do people think of the memes?

As with any internet craze, opinions on Chris Davis memes are divided. Some people find them hilarious, while others think they’re mean-spirited and unnecessary.

“I think the memes are funny,” says baseball fan Sarah Johnson. “I feel bad for Chris Davis and what he went through, but at the end of the day, it’s just a joke. I don’t think anyone is really trying to hurt his feelings.”

Others, however, disagree. “I think the memes are really mean,” says Orioles fan Michael Brown. “Chris Davis is a human being with feelings, and I don’t think it’s right to make fun of him like that. It’s not like he was intentionally trying to be bad at baseball.”
