They often feature pop culture references, political commentary, or other topical subjects. In the case of Cruz Azul Memes America, the memes are focused on the rivalry between the two soccer teams.
The Origins of the Rivalry
The Cruz Azul vs. America rivalry dates back to the 1960s, when both teams were rising to prominence in Mexican soccer. They have since faced each other in countless matches and have developed a fierce rivalry, with fans of each team often engaging in verbal (and sometimes physical) altercations. The rivalry has only grown stronger with the advent of social media, as fans now have an even larger platform to express their opinions and taunts.
The Best Memes from Fans
One of the most popular memes from Cruz Azul fans is a photo of an America player with the caption “When you realize you’re never going to win another championship.” On the other side, America fans have created memes of Cruz Azul players crying after losing important games, with captions like “Another year, another failure.”
But it’s not just the fans who are creating these memes. Even players and coaches have gotten in on the action, with Cruz Azul coach Juan Reynoso sharing a meme of himself with the caption “When you finally beat America after 10 years.” America player Guillermo Ochoa also shared a meme of himself with the caption “When you stop a penalty from Cruz Azul and become a hero.”
