They have become increasingly popular on social media platforms such as TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram, with creators using them to express their creativity and connect with their audience.
Animation memes are often created using 2D animation software such as Adobe Flash or Toon Boom, with some creators opting to use 3D animation tools like Blender. The animations are usually set to a specific song or sound clip, with the characters moving in time with the music.
Origins of Animation Memes
Animation memes have their roots in the traditional meme culture that has been prevalent on the internet for decades. However, the trend of creating animated videos to accompany music first gained popularity in the early 2010s, with creators using platforms like DeviantArt and Tumblr to share their creations.
The popularity of animation memes really took off in the mid-2010s, with the rise of platforms like Vine and Musical.ly (later rebranded as TikTok). These platforms provided a ready-made audience for creators to share their videos with, and the trend quickly spread across the internet.
