The Chicago Bears had an interesting season in 2022, to say the least. While there were some highs and lows, there was one thing that remained consistent throughout the year: the hilarious memes that flooded social media after each game. From poking fun at the team’s struggles to celebrating its successes, fans took to the internet to share their thoughts and feelings in the form of witty and creative memes. The Pre-Season Memes
Before the season even began, fans were already sharing memes about the team’s chances in 2022. Many poked fun at the Bears’ decision to stick with veteran quarterback Andy Dalton instead of giving rookie Justin Fields a chance to start. One meme, in particular, showed Dalton holding a clipboard with the caption “I’m the starter because I’m the only one who knows how to use Microsoft Excel.” Response from Twitter user @BearsFan4Life: “LOL, this is hilarious! But seriously, I hope Fields gets his chance soon. We need some excitement on offense.”
The Justin Fields Memes
Once Justin Fields was finally given the starting job mid-season, fans wasted no time in creating memes to celebrate. From comparing him to former Bears quarterback Jay Cutler (in a good way) to making fun of his fashion choices, Fields quickly became a fan favorite both on and off the field. Response from Reddit user u/BearsFan23: “I love these Justin Fields memes! He’s such a talented player and a great personality. Can’t wait to see what he does next season.”
The Game Day Memes
Of course, no season is complete without the game day memes. Whether the Bears won or lost, fans always had something to say about the team’s performance. One popular meme showed head coach Matt Nagy with the caption “When you finally let Fields play and he throws for 4 touchdowns.” Another showed a frustrated Bears fan with the caption “Why do I do this to myself every Sunday?” Response from Instagram user @BearsNation: “These game day memes are the best! They perfectly capture the ups and downs of being a Bears fan. Keep ’em coming!”
The Playoff Memes
Unfortunately, the Bears didn’t make it to the playoffs in 2022. But that didn’t stop fans from creating memes about what could have been. Many memes showed the team in various playoff scenarios, such as one that showed Fields holding up the Lombardi trophy with the caption “2023 Super Bowl champs!” Response from Facebook user John Doe: “I’m still holding out hope for next season! These playoff memes are getting me excited for what’s to come.”
The Off-Season Memes
As the off-season approached, fans began to create memes about what changes the team should make in order to improve for next season. Many focused on the need for a new head coach, while others suggested trades or free agent signings. One meme showed a Bears fan with a sign that read “I’ll take anyone over Nagy at this point.” Response from Twitter user @BearDown: “I can’t wait to see what the Bears do this off-season. These memes are giving me some good ideas!”
