Origins of the Meme
The Minions Banana Song first appeared in the original Despicable Me film and has since become synonymous with the series. The song is a simple tune with gibberish lyrics that the Minions sing while playing around with bananas. The song has been popular with kids and adults alike, but it wasn’t until 2023 that it became a meme sensation.
The meme started when a user on TikTok created a video of a person slipping on a banana peel while the Minions Banana Song played in the background. The video went viral, and soon after, people started creating their own versions of the meme. Some of the most popular versions include people falling down stairs, slipping on wet floors, and even animals tripping over objects.
Popular Versions of the Meme
1. The Banana Peel Slip
The original Banana Peel Slip meme that started it all is still one of the most popular versions. In this meme, someone slips on a banana peel while the Minions Banana Song plays in the background. The video often ends with the person falling and the camera panning to the Minions laughing.
2. The Animal Slip
Another popular version of the meme is the animal slip. In this version, animals such as cats, dogs, and even birds slip on objects while the Minions Banana Song plays in the background. The videos often end with the animal looking embarrassed or confused, while the Minions continue to laugh.
3. The Stair Fall
The stair fall meme is where someone falls down a flight of stairs while the Minions Banana Song plays in the background. The videos often end with the person at the bottom of the stairs looking dazed while the Minions continue to laugh.
Reactions from People who know it
The Despicable Me Meme Song has received mixed reactions from people who have seen it. Some people find it hilarious and can’t get enough of the various versions. Others find it childish and unoriginal, claiming that the meme has been overdone.

On the other hand, 35-year-old father of two, Mark, says, “I don’t understand the appeal of the Despicable Me Meme Song. It’s just the same thing over and over again.”
Regardless of people’s opinions, the Despicable Me Meme Song doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon. As long as people keep finding new and creative ways to use the song, it will continue to be a popular meme trend on social media.
