Origins of the Meme
The 50 Shades Darker shower meme started with a scene from the 2017 film adaptation of the book series. In the scene, Christian Grey (played by Jamie Dornan) takes a shower while Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) watches. The scene is meant to be sensual, but internet users quickly turned it into something else.
It started with a few memes here and there, but soon the shower scene was everywhere. People were photoshopping themselves into the shower with Christian Grey, adding funny captions, and creating gifs. The meme quickly went viral and has been a hit ever since.
Why It’s So Popular
So, why has the 50 Shades Darker shower meme been such a hit? For starters, it’s hilarious. The scene itself is already a little ridiculous, so adding in funny captions and photoshops only makes it better. It’s also relatable – who hasn’t wanted to shower with Jamie Dornan at least once?
But perhaps the biggest reason for the meme’s success is its universality. The original 50 Shades book series and subsequent films were incredibly popular, so the characters and storyline are familiar to a wide audience. Plus, the meme is easy to understand – even if you haven’t seen the movie, you can still appreciate the humor.
